Black presence explored’ project where we worked with some of the art and sculpture from the museum’s collections that depict black people.

Online workshops throughout Black History Month, led by local poet ‘The Orator’, enabled members of the community to respond to the artworks in poetry. Their words have been made into new labels that look at the works of art from a new perspective.

Black Presence Explored – Leicester Museums & Galleries

Black Presence Explored is a project that has involved working with some of the art and sculpture depicting black people, from the collections of Leicester Museums & Galleries. During online workshops which took place through Black History Month 2020, members of the community responded to the artworks in poetry. The workshops were led by local poet ‘The Orator’.
